Instance Tracker

Hello! You might be seeing a request to your cobalt instance, linking back to this site.

In August of 2023, I started to track a list of cobalt instances for fun. At the start, this list was public and had to be user submitted. Eventually, I found out ways to search the internet for public cobalt instances. I wrote a blog post about it here.

However, this list ended up growing larger than expected, and eventually was used for abuse. Websites would take my list and use it for their own sites filled with ads. They were even scraping instances for mass media. During this time, another list tracker was created that was much better. Because of this, I decided to close my list down to the public. The site used to be called instances.hyper.lol.

Why am I getting a request still?

I wanted to continue to track instances for fun, which is what I still do. You saw a weird request from this website, and now you are here. Don’t worry, my instance tracker simply tests difference services for your cobalt instance. It does not download media itself, so it does not use a lot of resources. Furthermore, if you see my requests, your instance is publicly exposed, so anyone can send requests to it.

You can secure your instance be requiring API keys or Cloudflare Turnstile. You can also change your Docker ports to listen on 127.0.0.1:9000:9000 if you want it to not be publicly available. My list will still see your instance, but won’t be able to make requests.

You can contact me on the contact page for any questions.
